Teams are assigned according to each client’s needs, experience level and general
location of offices. A senior-level team leader is designated with back-up and support
personnel as necessary depending on the needs of the meeting, client and/or event.

Kaye Sparks, CMM
Vice President

Kaye began her career in the hospitality Industry in 1983 as the Corporate Meeting
Manager for Nortel Networks. Kaye rapidly moved up the ranks to become the Director
of Corporate Global Meetings and Events Department. Kaye managed over 100 meetings
annually while overseeing a staff of up to thirty planners. Kaye and her team managed
events ranging from 100 to 5,000 plus attendees including sales conferences, association
conferences, product launches, incentive trips, hospitality events, tradeshows,
and road shows. Kaye and her team were also responsible for many of the association
organization conferences that were formed on behalf of Nortel products.
Through her creativity, negotiating skills and extensive knowledge of the overall
meeting and event planning, she won the CEO’s Teamwork Award and Top Talent Awards,
given to only 10% of the company. Kaye has managed such prestigious events as: Palm
Springs International Film Festival, Master’s Golf Tournaments, PGA golf tournaments,
US Open, Olympics, Kentucky Derby, Super Bowl (for three years), Indy 500 (for seven
years) and Formula One racing events globally. Kaye has been instrumental in new
business development with a number of Fortune 500 companies on various types of
high profile events since joining ResourceOne in 2001. Kaye attended Texas Tech
University and is based in Dallas, Texas.

Laura Baesel
Marketing & Operations

Laura began her meeting planning career in Southern California in 1994. Working
in the Sales & Marketing department for Canon USA, Inc. she managed large-scale
events such as national sales meetings, kick-offs, incentive trips, dealer non-disclosures,
tradeshows, trainings, celebrity golf tournaments and charity fundraisers.
After a move with her husband to Dallas, Texas, Laura joined the Texas District
of Merrill Lynch. She managed approximately 40 events per year including high-end
sales incentive trips, trainings, seminars, senior management road shows, and client
hospitality events.
Laura joined HelmsBriscoe ResourceOne in 2003. As a Program Director, she worked
with a host of clients ranging from associations to Fortune 500 corporations. Event
types she managed included tradeshows, cruises, association conferences, sales kick-offs,
multi-city webcasts, and incentive trips (both domestic and international). After
two years of operating programs with HBR1, Laura moved into a sales role, managing
all HB territories over the course of the following 5 years. She is now enjoying
promoting ResourceOne as Associate Regional Vice President of Marketing & Operations.
Laura holds a BA in Political Science from Biola University and is based in Dallas,
Texas.

Debbie Akins
Sales Director

Debbie joined HelmsBriscoe in 2008 following a highly successful 33 year career
with Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Florida. As the Director of Sales Events and Relationship
Management with Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Florida, she gained extensive knowledge
and experience in the event industry and has led teams in the development and implementation
of domestic and international incentive trips, product launches, sales meetings,
trade shows, executive and top producer retreats including Super Bowl, Masters,
Final Four, The Players Championship at Sawgrass, etc. Debbie is known for being
customer focused, creative and implementing management plans, processes, procedures
and teams that excel. She believes that we are what we repeatedly do, so excellence
then is not an act, but a habit.
In addition to over 20 years of event industry experience, Debbie has developed
incentive compensation and reward programs, sales contests and promotional campaigns.
She and her teams have consistently produced outstanding event ratings. She’ll do
the same for you! Debbie is based in Jacksonville, Florida.

Corinne Connor
Sales Director

Corinne began her meeting planning career in 1998 with a European engineering firm,
Montech LLC, planning over 20 trade shows a year as well as client entertainment/hospitality
in the US, Canada and Europe as well as training and development for US based sales.
Following Montech, Corinne joined Wachovia Corporation where she was a senior meeting
planner for the Corporate and Investment Bank with a focus on multi-track investor
conferences, sector specific CEO Summits, client incentive travel, golf tournaments
and high-end client hospitality throughout the US and Europe.
After leaving Wachovia, Corinne has been planning meetings for a wide range of clients
from associations to Fortune 500 firms. She has focused on client management and
meeting development for national conferences, sales incentive programs both domestic
and abroad, client hospitality at sporting events as well as training and development
programs for national associations. Currently, Corinne is actively selling ResourceOne
services to our clients.
Corinne joined HelmsBriscoe ResourceOne in 2008. She is an active member with Site
and currently serves as the 2010 President of Site Southeast. Corinne holds a BS
in Marketing from Clemson University and is based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

JC Konecny
Sales Director

JC’s sales experience began in 2001 with her Johnson & Johnson career where she
received numerous awards and accolades for her success. After leaving Johnson &
Johnson, JC joined Sanofi-Aventis Pharmaceuticals serving as a Senior Professional
Institutional Sales Person selling complex injectable products to a variety of specialists,
surgeons and hospital organizations. In addition, JC served as sales trainer for
Sanofi-Aventis.
JC has extensive experience with large sales meetings, trade show events and physician
gatherings including logistics coordination, site selection and speaker arrangement.
She has successfully launched numerous pharmaceutical products to the US market,
and served as a key member of the marketing teams for two of the largest pharmaceutical
organizations in the US. JC holds a BA in Marketing and Advertising from the University
of Georgia and is based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Greg Slaight,CMP
Sales Director
|
Greg began his career in 1988 in the meeting and event industry with American Airlines
and Sabre, holding various management positions from Sabre Specialist, Advertising
and Sales Promotions Manager to Senior Meeting Planner. As the Senior Meeting planner,
Slaight was responsible for Sabre’s Subscriber Conferences and Employee Meetings.
In 1996, Greg moved to Sprint as a Senior Event Manager. During his time at Sprint
he managed large internal and customer events, sales kickoff meetings and incentive
trips. Greg also managed Sprint hospitality events for Fortune 500 customers at
the 1996 Summer Olympics and 2002 Winter Olympics as well as the 2003 and 2005 NFL
Super Bowls. Following Sprint, Slaight was named Director of Meetings and Events
for Spear One where he directed a team of event managers and specialists who managed
meetings for Fortune 500 companies. Greg holds a BA in Broadcast Journalism from
the University of Nebraska and is based in Dallas, Texas.
